Pickering Shay #11 had a STAINLESS STEEL Boiler Jacket making her an eye popper
for certain!
But she's distinctive for more reasons for that!
At the height of their railroad logging operations Pickering had 76 miles of track 52 trestles, 7 Shays, 4 Heislers, and some 250 log cars... Their trackage was separated into three divisions.. The average train crew worked 12 to 14 hours a day to make a round trip on their division... Replete with a STAINLESS STEEL Boiler Jacket, this Shay is an eye popper for certain! And just wait'll you see the next view and have a look at her oil bunker! With a ladder up the side of her oil bunker, (instead of at its rear...) it's obvious that the Pickering was at least somewhat safety conscious...
