The Soo Historical & Technical Society released these as "kits."

Soo Line passenger trains were hard to model because there was no suitable coach. Unlike most other railroads, which replaced their earliest pre-WWI steel cars with newer cars during the twenties, the Soo reequipped their passenger trains with steel cars in the years leading up to the war, then never bought another full coach; they just kept rebuilding what they had. And, almost none of the re-builds ever received wide letterboards (only two cars). The rest of the fleet had the "Gothic" sash covered with individual metal plates, which they kept until they went to scrap in the sixties. Modeling the Laker in particular is even more difficult because, after WWII, it always carried one of two unique diner-lounge-tap cars rebuilt from these distinctive coaches.

Back in 2003 they decided to do something about this, and developed etched brass "conversion kits" for Rivarossi coaches. These were more than just car sides; etched center sills, pre-cut styrene sheet for the floors, and a combination of etched brass and commercial detail parts to replace the underbodies on the Rivarossi cars. In reality, unless someone wanted to re-use the Rivarossi trucks, one didn't even need the body molding; just the roof. Two coaches were developed: the original window arrangement and a modernized version that reflected the changed window arrangement after the cars had a/c and reclining seats installed.

Also made was the unique Laker dining-lounge-tap car.
