The Amtrak Superliner II is a second-generation version of Amtrak's double-decker passenger cars, featuring mechanical and electrical improvements over the Superliner I models, and was ordered starting in 1991. The Superliner II fleet was built by Bombardier Transportation and included new components like Transition Sleeper (transdorm) cars, which house crew. While visually similar to the Superliner I, the Superliner II fleet represents an updated design for Amtrak's western-based long-distance routes.
