The last time the 2-6-2’s were done was back in 1975. Since most models probably aren’t even around, W&R has announced the production of the Class T and T-1 versions. Note: Versions 3, 4 and 5 will have a Kadee coupler pocket on the pilot. All models will feature the smooth running Maxon coreless motor and 40:1 gearbox. HO scale and built by Boo-Rim

In 1918 and 1919, the Northern Pacific rebuilt six Class T, 2-6-2 locomotives into Class W-4, 2-8-2 locomotives, #2500-2505. The rebuilding was accomplished by adding another 1st course to the boiler, an additional driver, and a Schmidt superheater. The locomotives were successful and they lasted until 1955-1958 when they were scrapped. None of the locomotives received numberboards because they were used in branchline and switching service. At various times, they roamed the system from Livingston to St. Paul and Duluth. When originally converted, all the locomotives had a forward mounted air pump. Later, the air pumps were moved to above the 3rd driver except for #2500 which ran until the end with its forward pump. The model versions represent #2500 (Version 1) with the forward air pump and #2501 (Version 2) with the rear mounted air pump. The tenders for both versions are Class 14E.

The W-4 locos have never been done before as models and they are the ONLY 2-8-2 Class that have not been done by W&R. This is a MUST HAVE for any collection. Estimated delivery is 2011.
