HO PFM - United. Frisco 2-10-0 Sound Special. Here is a great collectors items. From the PFM collection, is one of the 'Sound Special' Models. These models were painted in Japan by Tenshodo, and sent to dealers to demonstrate PFM sound to their customers. They were sent free of charge, but ownership was retained by PFM. Dealers were required to send the models back to PFM when they were no longer using them. Naturally many models 'disappeared'. They show up once in a while, but often in poor shape. Furthermore each of these models comes with a Certificate of Authenticity that it was from the PFM collection. It also includes letters that were originally sent to the dealers. This particular model does not have sound installed. One of the letters explained that they were shipped to the dealers that way, and the dealer would install the sound module that would be sent at a later date. It is likely considering the excellent condition of this model that it was never sent to a dealer. That makes it a particularly desirable model to a collector. The model is prewired with instructions on lubrication etc. from PFM. We did test the motor,etc. and it is fine. However you will need to hook up the wires if you actually want to run the model. The Box shows some wear. NOTE: The model has a part near the steam dome that broke the solder.
